November 4th Why Aren’t you Here Yet?
Why oh why is November 4th not here yet? It is getting so tough to watch television lately. I mean every second there are new polls, rallies, and negative ads on television. Why can’t it be election day today? It has been forever since we have not heard the phrase presidential election. I wonder what every one will do when the presidential election is over? I remember the final season of the West Wing when Martin Sheen’s president Josiah Bartlett had finished his eight years and he and most of his staff were leaving the White House. Jimmy Smits ’s character Matthew Santos was the new president. I guess that is how George Bush and his staff feel except on the West Wing the staff and the president had done a lot of good for the country but sadly that is not the case here. I guess you feel sad that your eight years are over. I think eight years were too many but I digress. I just want the election to be over and finally have a new president. We keep hearing about change now we need to see if it will really happen.
That depends largely on downticket races and how much time and energy YOU (yes, you…you in front of the monitor) are willing to spend getting the right people elected to the House and Senate. 8 days left…get to work.
I know this is getting tough–you are not the only one who feels it, believe me. Personally I have resorted to 80s rock for a brief break of “feel better”. 3D is right. Everyone brings something to the table so maybe this is a good week to do something new, contact old friends and say VOTE, or stand or a street corner and hand out flyers. It will be over in a week and this has been such an incredible ride! When it is over, the work begins anew. Have a wonderful day! ~k
