Last Night’s Obama Prime Time Ad
Last night we watched Barack Obama’s prime time advertisement on television. I have to give Barack Obama and his campaign credit, the advertisement/ documentary was very well done. I could not leave the television because I liked it so much. I mean it was very real and allowed you to connect with different Americans and hear their life stories. The story about the African American woman with rheumatoid arthritis really struck a chord with me. It was sad to see her straighten out her fingers. It was heartbreaking that at the age of 72 her husband has to work at Walmart just to try and pay the bills and make ends meet. The advertisement really showed us how people are struggling. I mean we hear about it all the time on the news but the advertisement really put a name and a face to the every day struggles that the average American is facing in today’s economy. I think that it also allowed you to see how real Barack Obama is. He talked about his mother who died of cancer and we saw pictures of his daughters. I mean Barack Obama is like all of us, he wants to take care of his family and achieve the American dream. I really think that the advertisement was a great investment, it was done well and really was powerful and moving.
I agree. It was probably the best political promotional vehicle I’ve seen. I especially liked two things:
1. He talked about what he would do when he was in office. Not what he could do, might do, but would do.
2. He didn’t mention the Republican party, either in reference or by specific name.
He also showed a man who is proof that the American dream exists and it’s not built up from money and/or entitlement.
I bet his grandmother is so proud today.
I agree, it was very moving and it was real you saw people who experience everyday issues that you do -or you may in the future…it made me respect him even more.
