The Changing of The Guard- January 20th 2009

Published by mcnally1 at 10:54 am under Politics, President Barack Obama, news Edit This

On January 20th, 2009 there will be a new president. However, what types of laws are being passed and put into law by our lame duck president, George W. Bush? We do not know what laws he is trying to sign into law because no one is reporting on a lot of news relating to George W. Bush. I for one cannot wait until Inauguration Day. I am very excited.  I wish that I could attend the Inauguration but good luck getting tickets. I mean it is pure insanity trying to get Inauguration tickets because so many people want them. President Elect Obama wants an economic plan on his desk when he arrives for his first official day on the job. I hope that he gets his wish. I assume that he has policy advisers working overtime in order to try and get his economic plan written and passed by Congress. I really wish that today was January 20th. I think that I would feel better about my economic future. Many people are suffering financially right now and it is just not right.

You don’t have to worry too much about the midnight regulations Bush is trying to squeeze in before he’s gone. The Congressional Review Act of 1996 can eliminate anything he’s done with a simple, party line vote in the House as late as Jan. 19th, 2009.

As for tickets, yeah, it’s rough. They’re expecting 4 million people to show up for the inauguration. I’m lucky in that I have DC connections and was able to score some, and even that was rough.
