Congrats Joe Biden and Barack Obama!

Today was the big day! Joe Biden has been sworn in as our vice president. Barack Obama is now our forty fourth president. I watched this historic inauguration at home. I felt so relieved when he finally took office. The inauguration is simply a formality because at noon the president elect becomes president anyway. President Bush is finally gone. He left Andrew’s Air Force base and is headed to Midland,Texas. Many people went to the inauguration. I doubt there will ever be that many people at an inauguration  ever again. Today begins a new chapter in the lives of all Americans. Hopefully, our problems will be solved. I know it will take years to repair the damage that was done during the last eight years. I am hopeful though. Today, we all feel like anything is truly possible. How did you feel about the inauguration? I thought that the new President gave a great speech.

Obama’s Train Tour

Today, I watched some of the coverage of President Elect Barck Obama, his wife Michelle, Vice President Elect Joe Biden , his wife Jill and their guests go on their train tour. The train tour started in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and ended in Washington, D.C. MSNBC, CNN, and even Fox News covered the train tour. Many people flocked to the stops that the train would make. They wanted to just get a glimpse of Barack Obama. Barack Obama and Joe Biden both made remarks. As we all know, Joe Biden has taken the Amtrak train from Delaware to Washington every day for years. It was a great send off for the man. I really thought that the train tour was a great idea. Many people are so involved in this election and they want to be a part of history. What did you think of the train tour today? Did you like it?

Joe Biden as Vice President

Published by mcnally1 under Obama/Biden, Politics, news Edit This

Joe Biden seems like such a great gentleman, He still takes the Amtrak train home to Delaware. He is such a breath of fresh air to the post of vice president. He seems like a people person whereas Dick Cheney seemed to be secretive and closed off. I feel like we can all trust Joe Biden. He has years of experience in politics but can have fun and laugh. He seems like a very intelligent person, and really shows that he wants to be in public service for all the right reasons. I saw him on Larry King Live and I have to say that I was impressed. He answered the questions eloquently and he seems like he enjoys talking to people, even the media. His daughter and his wife were killed in an accident many years ago but you can still tell that the man is still hurting from his loss. He has a wife named Jill, who is a teacher. He always talks about her so you can tell that he is a family man and loves his wife and family. His son Beau is even serving in Iraq. I think that the changing of the guard at the vice president’s office will be a smooth transition. Joe Biden is a great man and will be a great vice president.

Obama got 300,000 resumes

The Obama administration transition team has received three hundred thousand resumes for job positions in his administration. There are only around eight thousands jobs to fill. This means that thousands of people will be disappointed when they do not receive jobs in the President Elect’s administration. President Elect Barack Obama’s administration is a historic administration. he is our first African American president. Many people feel inspired and want to take part in this historic administration. Barack Obama gives people hope and it would be fun and motivating to work for someone who was the under dog and worked hard to achieve the American dream.I will not be surprised if he gets thousands more resumes before he is inaugurated in January. I wish that I could work for him, but I do not live near Washington, D.C. It must be hard to sift through thousands of resumes. I feel bad for the people who have to do all of that reading.

Joe the Plumber

Yes, we are all tired of hearing Joe the Plumber but I was reading today how appalled Joe the Plumber is with Senator John McCain. I would hate to tell this to you Joe, but McCain made you famous so you should not talk smack about him. I mean your fifteen minutes of fame are basically up because Senator John McCain and his running mate  Governor Sarah Palin were not elected to the highest office in this nation. Joe the plumber’s real name is Joe Wurzelbacher. He is also not a real plumber either, but I digress. He said that he had not had good interacts with the McCain campaign and that is why he felt like he wanted to leave the campaign. I doubt that is true because he was getting book deals and all of this publicity so he was milking his fame for whatever it was worth. He claimed to have asked Senator McCain many questions about the bailout and wasastonished by his answers. I really think that Joe needs to stop dissing John McCain, he is an honorable man. I am glad that Barack Obama was chosen as our president but Joe should not go after McCain when McCain has helped him tremendously publicity wise.

Joe Biden not allowed to attend Democratic Caucus Meetings

I heard today that Vice President Elect Joseph Biden will not be allowed to attend democratic caucus meetings. The democrats want to bar the vice president from sitting in on their internal deliberations. This is because of Vice President Dick Cheney who expanded the role of the vice president when he was not supposed to. According to reports,Vice President Elect Biden agrees that there needs to be balance. There needs to be more balance in the United States senate. The only reason that Biden should be involved in senate deliberations in my opinion is when the senators cannot come to a consensus. I think this can be a good thing because the senators would vote the way that they want. Many republicans felt pressured to vote with Dick Cheney and the White House because he was alloed to be in the senate’s interal delberations. It is time to undo what went wrong and rectify the situation.

President Elect Obama To Name More Cabinet Employees

President Elect Barack Obama will name more of his cabinet members soon. He is working very fast and making very good selections as far as I can tell. We all know that he has picked Senator Hillary Clinton as his secretary of state and Bill Richardson as his commerce secretary. He has picked Susan Rice who was his foreign affairs adviser to be his United Nations ambassador.President Elect Barack Obama has decided that Eric Holder will be his attorney general. Eric Holder had helped him with his search for a vice presidential running mate. Janet Napolitano who is an Arizona governor has been selected to be President Elect Obama’s homeland security secretary. This cabinet has really taken shape. One person I would like to see included is Colin Powell. He is such a great man, he really needs to be included in President Elect Obama’s cabinet. What do you think of all of these picks?

The Sarah Palin Turkey Debacle

Last night, I was watching Keith Olbermann’s  Countdown and saw the entire turky debacle video starring Governor Sarah Palin. I have to say that video scared me. First, I had never known that, that was the way they killed turkeys. I cannot imagine doing something like that for a living. I mean it was grueling to watch. I cannot imagine that someone in the audience would say something. I mean if I aw a turkey getting killed in an automatic turkey killing machine you can bet that I would scream or wince or say something. I mean there is a animal being killed a few feet from you and you say nothing. The  guy who was killing the turkey seemed more interested in Sarah Palin than his job. I have never seen something like this in politics. I mean it just shocked me. I could not believe that something like that could happen. Keith seemed very shocked and dismayed. I felt his pain, that is for sure. What did you think of turkey gate?

John McCain is slammed… by a republican!

According to a report Republican Senator Jim DeMint of South Caroline has become one of the first very important republicans to slam John McCain. According to DeMint, John McCain violated the party’s conservative principles during his presidential campaign. The senator said that McCain and the party had strayed from its brand of religious beliefs, limited government, and representing freedom. He said this in front of a crowd at a conference for the future of the GOP. Can we say sore loser here? I mean the Grand Old Party did not nominate Jim DeMint for president of the United States of America did they? No, they did not. The GOP nominated John McCain and they should still stand by their decision or it show a lack of judgment on their part. Their issue was with Sarah Palin so if they need someone to take aim at, then they should bash her. Her gaffes and lack of knowledge and experience really hurt the ticket. I have to support John McCain here, he is very qualified but has a problem connecting with liberals and independents. Jim DeMint needs to stop throwing stones and get over the fact that his party lost. You can’t blame everything on John McCain.

Senator Hillary Clinton to be Secretary of State?

There are rumors going around that President Elect Barack Obama is considering asking New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to be his secretary of state. I for one am excited. I think that Hillary Clinton is very intelligent and well-spoken. She is a senator and a lawyer and was first lady for eight years so her resume is quite extensive and is very impressive. She can handle herself well and I think that many heads of state would respect her. She is a go-getter and I really think that this would be a great job position for her to take. I hope that President Elect Obama does offer the job to her. I think it would be great for our entire country. Hillary Clinton has become a role model for women. She works hard and has made a great career for herself. Being secretary of state is a very good credential to have if she does ever decide to run again for president. Hopefully, we will find out soon if Hillary Clinton has the job. Do you all think that Senator Hillary Clinton will be secretary of state?
