Joe the Plumber

Yes, we are all tired of hearing Joe the Plumber but I was reading today how appalled Joe the Plumber is with Senator John McCain. I would hate to tell this to you Joe, but McCain made you famous so you should not talk smack about him. I mean your fifteen minutes of fame are basically up because Senator John McCain and his running mate  Governor Sarah Palin were not elected to the highest office in this nation. Joe the plumber’s real name is Joe Wurzelbacher. He is also not a real plumber either, but I digress. He said that he had not had good interacts with the McCain campaign and that is why he felt like he wanted to leave the campaign. I doubt that is true because he was getting book deals and all of this publicity so he was milking his fame for whatever it was worth. He claimed to have asked Senator McCain many questions about the bailout and wasastonished by his answers. I really think that Joe needs to stop dissing John McCain, he is an honorable man. I am glad that Barack Obama was chosen as our president but Joe should not go after McCain when McCain has helped him tremendously publicity wise.

The Sarah Palin Turkey Debacle

Last night, I was watching Keith Olbermann’s  Countdown and saw the entire turky debacle video starring Governor Sarah Palin. I have to say that video scared me. First, I had never known that, that was the way they killed turkeys. I cannot imagine doing something like that for a living. I mean it was grueling to watch. I cannot imagine that someone in the audience would say something. I mean if I aw a turkey getting killed in an automatic turkey killing machine you can bet that I would scream or wince or say something. I mean there is a animal being killed a few feet from you and you say nothing. The  guy who was killing the turkey seemed more interested in Sarah Palin than his job. I have never seen something like this in politics. I mean it just shocked me. I could not believe that something like that could happen. Keith seemed very shocked and dismayed. I felt his pain, that is for sure. What did you think of turkey gate?

John McCain is slammed… by a republican!

According to a report Republican Senator Jim DeMint of South Caroline has become one of the first very important republicans to slam John McCain. According to DeMint, John McCain violated the party’s conservative principles during his presidential campaign. The senator said that McCain and the party had strayed from its brand of religious beliefs, limited government, and representing freedom. He said this in front of a crowd at a conference for the future of the GOP. Can we say sore loser here? I mean the Grand Old Party did not nominate Jim DeMint for president of the United States of America did they? No, they did not. The GOP nominated John McCain and they should still stand by their decision or it show a lack of judgment on their part. Their issue was with Sarah Palin so if they need someone to take aim at, then they should bash her. Her gaffes and lack of knowledge and experience really hurt the ticket. I have to support John McCain here, he is very qualified but has a problem connecting with liberals and independents. Jim DeMint needs to stop throwing stones and get over the fact that his party lost. You can’t blame everything on John McCain.

What wll John McCain and Sarah Palin do now?

Now that the election is over and undoubtedly the finger pointing has begun what will former presidential and vice presidential candidates John McCain and Sarah Palin do? I watched Sarah Palin’s news conference when she was trying, and not so well to defend herself against claims that she is a diva, and a hillbilly looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast. Now, Senator Ted Stevens will either lose his senate seat or resign which would leave the seat empty. Now, democrats will try and go for the seat, but I think it will stay Republican. I think she wants to run in 2012, but I don’t think that is such a good idea, considering that four years is a short period of time and people will associate her with Tina Fey’s impression of her for a long time to come. I think that John McCain needs to try and work with Democrats and Republicans on national security. He has said a million times before that he knows how to win in Iraq and Afghanistan and that he knows how to find Osama Bin Laden, so that would be a good job for him. What do you think John McCain and Sarah Palin should do now?

GOP in Turmoil

Okay, as we all know, the GOP or the Republican party was not happy on Election night. They lost house and senate seats and now Barack Obama who is a democrat is president. I think that the real problem that lead to the party’s undoing was the fact that they had no real leader. Now, George Bush is a Republican but he is not the leader of the Republican party, they all voted and said no to president Bush literally and figuratively. There are no real stars in the Republican party at all. Sarah Palin is a conservative and does speak to her base but her qualifications or lack of qualifications were her downfall. Mitt Romney is a well spoken man, he knows a lot about economics and he was the governor of Massachussetts. However, the likeability factor is not there at all. Even John McCain dd not like Mitt Romney enough to pick him as his vice presidential running mate. Rudy Giuliani has been married three times and Catholics do not like him, he could never be the leader of the Republican party because of religious aspects and the fact that he was just a mayor. So, who will run the Republican party? I mean maybe they need to start looking for a new leader with a fresh face because no one seems to have that magic spark that inspires people. Who do you think should run the Republican party now that the party is in such turmoil?

Barack Obama Elected 44th President of the United States!

Last night was a historic night in the history of the United States. Barack Obama, a senator from Chicago, Illinois became our country’s first African American president. Mwai Kibaki, the president of Kenya declared today a public holiday in Barack Obama’s father’s native country of Kenya. I was amazed that the election was over by eleven o’clock. This country finally did what I never thought they would ever do- put aside its racist prejudices and elect an Afrcian American to the highest office in the land. Barack Obama’s acceptance speech was so well-written and eloquent. I also thought that John McCain tried to reach out his hand to help his supporters deal with the fact that John McCain and Sarah Palin were not elected to public office last night. I hope that Barack Obama can bring everyone in the country together- democrats, republicans, and independents. It is crucial to our country’s success that we all work together and change the attitude of our country. Everyone seems like a weight has been lifted off of their shoulders, they know that the world change last night. I saw people in front of the White House yesterday with signs saying why can’t we evict Bush now? I guess change cannot come soon enough for everyone. I will always remember the day that an African American became president. I saw Oprah and Jesse Jackson cry in the crowd, that is how moving this historical event is. What did you all think of yesterday’s victory for Barack Obama?

Today is the Day! It is Election Day, Everyone Vote!

Today is Election Day in the United States. As you all know, I am happy and bouncing off of the walls because today we will have our answer as to who will be taking office in January of 2009. I wonder if President Bush will call Barack Obama if he wins the election. I mean Barack Obama and John McCain have spent this entire election season trying to distance themselves from George W. Bush. Ralph Nader, Cynthia McKinney, Bob Barr and other candidates are on the ballot but we have yet to really see them on any political news shows such as Hardball, Countdown, and the Rachel Maddow Show. I mean I think everyone who is put on the ballot should be allowed to debate not just John McCain and Barack Obama but it is too late to do anything about that now since today is the day that we have all waited for. Please everyone vote today, it is so important. I know some people will say that they won’t vote because they do not like either candidate but when you need surgery that will save your life you have to make two choices to have the surgery or not, you don’t like the idea but you still have to make a choice in order to protect your life. I am excited that a new president will be elected today. How about you?

Tomorrow is the big day!

Yay! Let’s get out our party hats and whistles because tomorrow is the day that we have all been waiting for. I am sort of dreading Election Day because I am afraid that McCain will steal the election. Election Day is tomorrow, I am literally jumping for joy. I am surprised that it has come down to Barack Obama versus John McCain. I would have thought that Rudy Giuliani or Mitt Romney would have been the Republican nominee for president of the United States. I also thought that Hillary was a shoo in because of her political connections and the fact that she is so well known for being Bill Clinton’s wife and a former first lady of the United States. I have to give Hillary credit forrunning a strong campaign, it really did come down to the end. I think that her vote for the Iraq war really did her in. As for Rudy Giuliani, well he skipped many states during primary season and thought that having been a mayor on September eleventh would automatically make him president. He showed his true colors at the Republican National Convention by bashing Obama and community organizers. I am pretty sure that Rudy Giuliani’s hopes of being president ever are pretty well gone. I am surprised that he even calls himself a Republcian especially having been a New York City mayor but who knows? I just cannot wait for tomorrow. I am beaming ear to ear. How about you?

Election Day is Tuesday!

Election Day is Tuesday and I am so incredibly happy to have this election finally come to a close. My wife voted by absentee ballot, she hates to stand in long lines especially since we have a toddler. Everyone should vote if they want to make their voices heard. Some people decide to not vote, which is fine but just do not complain about who the president is when you did not even want to cast your ballot for a particular presidential candidate. I hope that this election is not like the Al Gore/ George Bush election where there is a notion that the election had been stolen from Al Gore due to Florida ballot recounts. I want this election to go down well with there being a clear winner so that our country can move on from the George W. Bush eight years that have not been good or productive for our country. I have no more patience for hearing about this election after November 5th. I just want closure and I know that you all do to. I wonder what we will be talking about since for the last eighteen months we have been discussing this upcoming election.

Sarah Palin: In Perspective

Okay, now I am not Sarah Palin’s biggest fan nor am I a fan of hers but I think with the election drawing to a close we need to discuss how she has changed since John McCain first announced that she was his vice presidential running mate. Now, John McCain thought Sarah Palin was a great choice because she is a woman. I would have picked Mae Whitman who is a female CEO and then I would have had a running mate with great credentials that was also a female. Mae Whitman would have been better suited to try and win over Independent swing voters and those female Hillary Clinton supporters.I think Sarah Palin wants to be president but with her credentials she never thought that John McCain would ask her to be his vice presidential running mate. She can give a speech that is for sure but I also think her gimmick of being Joe Six Pack or a hockey mom just does not work with all segments of people. I mean George W. Bush was the guy you wanted to have a beer with and he did not work out so well for this country. I think any good strategist would advise Sarah Palin to be a little more moderate in her view. I mean she is constantly referring to Obama as being tied to radicals and those sound bytes will be there froever, they won’t disappear especially if Obama wins the presidency and she wins the Republican nomination and needs to somehow distance herself from comments that she made about him. I think if McCain/Palin loses that Sarah Palin needs to revamp her public image and become more to the center or she will not go very far in politics.
